Carl, Well said! The 5Gx is nothing more and nothing less than an extremely cheap non-upgradeable motherboard. Non-upgradeable motherboards have been tried before, and failed, or at least did not achieve the degree of sucess that you envision. Remember the IBM SLC2/66? Exactly! Media GX is perfect for a never-existed consumer appliance. Nothing more, nothing less with the absolute cost-saving feature. With the performance between P- 133 and P-166, end users have enough performance to access Internet, do home finance, do homework, read CD cyclopedia, send email, play games on either TV or monitor. Why should they want to spend more money and time to upgrade its parts? For what? Got more money to spend, toss the old one away and go to Macy's to buy the latest 1999 silver-multi-tone Sony GX-based NC-Book. My daughter might choose a pink one. I would try to response to your great analysis piece by piece. Fuchi ... who loves Cyrix's innovations
