Hubert,
I also had an experience like yours (out of body). I did not do it, it just happened. It was not as a result of a life threatening injury in my case, but a state of mind. There are several things I had to admit because of the realization that I am a spirit being. I did not do it at that instant though. It took a while. The experience was proof that what I thought of as me, intelligence, emotion, consciousness could all exist in an invisible form without substance and lose nothing. I also knew that I could do things in that form instantly. What I did was look at myself (I could see without eyes, think without the gray matter in my head, feel emotion without my body) for a few moments then I thought I better get back in there. As soon as I thought it I was back in my body. Later (years) I could look at that experience and know that if I can exist in an invisible spirit form so can God. It says we are created in the likeness and image of God. If God can exist, then so can angels exist, and the fallen angels. And the whole bible can be true. That experience was not enough by itself to lead me to Jesus. It was just a first proof of the possibility of God's existence. Other's followed later in my life. I also had to recognize my need for God, link that with faith to believe and then actually ask to be saved and then experience being born again. It was no easy task for God because I was a very cynical, questioning person.
