I do not understand why DOJ continues to keep this stupid case alive. To let David Boise has a job ? To completely destroy Microsoft ? Or just to keep its face ?

There is a lot of lobbying by the competitors such as IBM, SUNW etc. at the state level (they employee a lot of people in certain states). These companies are just trying to have a negative image painted of msft and Gates. Then you have CNN broadcast (just watch Lou Dobbs' face glow when they report a negative story about msft) how bad softee is. This gets the general public upset about the company and sympathetic to the competition (help the underdog mentality sets in).
This provides momentum to the Microsoft haters groups. Even if the negativety sways the opinion of about 20% of the public (which has happened), it is worth it for the competition.
The end result-- in the past when 2 similiar products were available, the vast majority would pick MSFT. Now only a smaller majority would do so. This also opens up new opportunities for other competitors' product.

Therefore, it is quite easy to understand why this DOJ thing is going on. They will want to drag it out as long as possible to give other companies a chance to build up support. These companies have panicked.
Not all investors realize how dominant this company is and will be in the future.
