Some feel that the lawsuits will be settled for stock and cash--perhaps in the billions. However, CD is so big this may not mean more than a few points off the stock price. The recent rise in CD is not just because of an Internet connection, or even primarily because of it. Silverman's swift action, the early success of the restructuring plans, and the solid and profitable nature of CD's core businesses have all contributed to the upturn.
