Hubert ~ Another nicely done piece. Only thing I could add to the description of your ".....state of calm...." is that it is curiously similar to a state which a person *can* achieve in prison, albeit a psychological self-defense mechanism created, and absent the large glass door overlooking the idyllic yard.

The four walls require an even larger degree of discipline and dependency upon your own inner resources. This can be accomplished, and is one of the capabilities of the incarcerated which so maddeningly frustrates their torturers' most dedicated efforts.

Of greatest comfort is the ability to be able to see even a very tiny patch of blue sky through a greasy pane. The occasional wisp of cloud which crosses reinforces your knowledge that life does in fact persist. However, endurance does not require such luxuries.
