Janice, I do suspect that your argument may be with one of the...

Straw men...stuffed socks with little glued on felt eyes and tin foil hats. Squeaking and chittering, in packs and droves, flooding here and flooding there carrying large signs, exhorting.
Often insane, by decree immune to reason, they propagate.
Little characters designed to annoy and mimic.

To entertain children, take an old sock and using bits of colored felt and white glue make a face on the sock, the toe end being the top of the head. Make hair, or better yet, make a small hat from tin foil. Even older children will be entertained, especially if the puppeteer pretends to "not see" certain things, or believes black is white etc...

I sometimes wonder if stating the obvious is all that is required.
