I don't favor dictatorships. There is a paradox in that some are mainly interested in remaining in power. Everything is permitted except political opposition.

As the parties, here, become more skilled in using polls and focus groups along with the mass media, IMO it becomes more possible to gain and retain power. But since the message must please the masses, it becomes more likely that those that promise the most have a better chance of winning.

Only until a total mess of things occurs will people, even, try to rebel. Even worse is that restoring a country to working order involves its' own inequities and blunders. One, can think about the countries of the ex Soviet Union as examples, Peru and El Salvador also come to mind.

I think we are headed in this direction. It is impossible to convince those that are earning low salaries that raising the minimum wage reduces opportunity, for work. Wouldn't health care be better if everyone had equal access to it? Why should any be homeless? Why should anyone go hungry? Why should anyone be unemployed?
