The scanner application as a camera is an interesting thought. Since a LASER can define things in 3 dimensions I guess we are not far from a true, low cost, color, 3-D camera that could feed many different industries and applications.
As for the first commercial product, I am more inclined to wish for something basic that could get to market in a hurry and begin to produce revenue immediately. Ideally the product would be the basic building block for upgrades/off ramps for additional applications that all evolve from the basic product. (We need to "keep the lights on," while the other more revolutionary threads are pulled. The business projector field is wide open for a SMALL, LIGHT WEIGHT, projector. A device that could be carried INSIDE a briefcase or in the pocket of a lap top computer carrying case would instantly make the existing, clunky, projectors obsolete. This kind of standard setting mark would get the company a breakout product that would generate name recognition and cash for its other efforts. Follow on (or off ramp) adaptations could include a LASER TV, video game, computer monitor, etc to spray on your wall or into a multi-pane screen that would present the image in 3-D. Those follow-on applications would have the cost saving benefit of having been adaptations of the first "projector."
I don't want to see the company have to fall prey to dilution financing to cover a short term problem. I believe that we have a real winner here and would like to see them make it to the top without carrying any of that kind of baggage up the ladder. |
