rarebird,>>I did mention to Fred ( and a few other people )
after the surprise second interest rate cut that I thought that the indexes would hit new marginal highs. <<
that second rate drop took me by surprise coming so quickly after the first. why not one drop of 50 basis points instead of 2 back to back drops? i've never seen 2 drops so closely timed, was there any meaning to the second drop coming so fsat after the first?

>>I am extremely Bearish for 1999. We are in the midst of the most widely speculative blow-off in the history of the U.S. Stock Market. I have no idea when this blow-off will end. But when it does, watch out below. What took place last summer is an omen and preview for 99.<<
could you give us a very short recap of what exactly happened last summer before the interet rate drops saved the market?

>>It is a speculative blow-off, Stak. Even 12,000 is possible here. Interest Rate Cuts are extremely bullish for the stock market. The question is whether they will help corporate earnings. My answer is no. I expect Brazil to default on their debt in 99, setting off a
whole Latin American debacle, similar to Asia. I feel we will break considerably below 7400 in 1999.<<

ok so a default by brazil is a'trigger' for the market to fall well past 7400? doesn't it usually take more than one factor to trip up a bull like this one?
you mention rate cuts being extremely bullish, but thats a doubled -edged sword. do you see a rate increase as being a catalyst for the market drop????-- ah, ok i see in your next paragraph that you see more rate drops. never mind . >>I think Greenspam will continue to lower rates aggressively.<<

i predicted the market would fall to 5600 a few months ago becuase of what i've heard friends from hong kong say about the situation there. i was totally off to say the least.
