RE: CO's

My main question is whether these "phone booths" could house G-lite equipment, or if there was something special about a CO that required the equipment to be housed there.

A DSLAM must be terminated at the Central Office.

70-80% of the U.S. is within 18,000ft of a C.O.

There are several of them between me and the CO, which is about 30 miles away.

I would contact your Phone company and talk to their Tech Support.

The longest loops from the Central Office I've heard of is 40,000ft.
Though I'm no expert.....

Here's a couple of articles on the Central Offices:

In your situation I would go with something like PCDirect, using a Satellite for the downstream and POTS for the upstream.

If I can be of any assistance just E-Mail me.
