CLK, Only saw two items referring to euro gold coin currency AFTER the initial proposal was approved by vote -- one that refers to commemorative issues & alludes to no gold currency coinage:

and, Message 6554364 that speaks directly of the currency coin, but the source web page was no longer valid by the time SI was accessible again (the following day).
I do not know how formal the process is for "rejection" of the currency coin, it sounds as though the finance ministers gathered and said "we don't like it," and the concept is DOA.
