Gus, I agree that there seems to be a bigger potential market in tape drives, especially when they are prominently used in some academic centers: lcse.umn.edu One of the potential engineering problems as FC ramps up is the difficulty using FC interfaces with tape drives. I have heard this is a problem if you are using frame modes as opposed to circuit based switching (class 1) and that it also might be a problem based on the topology of the fabric. I know about the performance of FC hard drives. How do Ampex tape drives compare in terms of performance? George D.
