Your right in that this discussion as to the viability of IBM has gotten way off topic. And maybe your right that IBM will be yet another corpse in the IT world, leaving only MSFT standing. I just can't imagine it. This company has successfully weathered decades of good times and bad times including serious DOJ threats, its own arrogance in the industry, its own pushes for a proprietary "IBM" world technology, and complacency with inferior products. Yet they have always rebounded. All of these threats I just mentioned that IBM has weathered, MSFT is just beginning to experience. Lets see if MSFT can weather these storms (both internal and external) as has IBM. I am more sceptical then many on this board that MSFT will trip and stumble on this threats because of their shier immaturity and level of Senior Executive Arrogance. As is always the case, we will all see how healthy both IBM and MSFT are in the next 2-3 years. I tend to be a lot more optimistic as to IBM's viability than do you or Tech2000. To get back on track - I would also state that ORCL will also be very successful - regardless of MSFT's push into the DBMS sector. Toy
