I'm sorry but I just cant see that IBM's RS/6000 will be phased out. I recently attended an RS/6000 future roadmap (internal presentation) and if anything I got the strong impression that IBM's roadmap is very strong and they have aggressive goals to take on Sun's market leadership in the Unix arena.

So, you Rudedog may have a very strong background, but that doesnt mean his skills from the 60s 70s 80s will give him a better insight as to what IBM plans for RS6000s and other sectors in the 90s and 2000s.

Now if Rudedog were a senior manager at IBM in NY then I will bow to his predictions and I had better look at leaving IBM for a better employer. But until then, I am very content in believing that Rudedog was not on the nose in many of his points.
