MSFT will face opposition on three fronts now -the AOL deal is quite stiff competition. MSFT would eliminate a competitor and get a headstart which YHOO has. The price vs value - thats the only question. I believe MSFT alone will be an also ran in the portal buizz. Despite the loot thrown into the MSN, its still years behind.
A new entity called MicroYahoo may be the answer.

The lawsuit has made chances of such an alliance very remote though.
