It seems that many people have been surprised at the disparity of wealth in Indonesia. It is a dictatorship. Suharto was in power until recently.

I do not believe that most people realize that the majority of the Indonesia population live in third-world conditions, unlike Malaysia or Borneo where the standard of living had been higher b4 the Asian crisis.

I wonder why the public never knew. I wonder if the IMF had anything to do with lack of information. Many people were shocked when they learned who really controlled the wealth in in Indonesia, a country controlled by Suharto dictatorship--until recently. Members of the Suharto family controlled the infrastructure and wealth of the country.

The people who were not connected with family, the majority of people, live in terrible poverty.
