Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq) Launch of MA IV(TM) Hit of COMDEX
FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR - news), announced that the launch of its newest wearable computer, the Mobile Assistant IV™ (''MA IV'') was met by raves from analysts, critics and the commercial and industrial world. Met by statements such as ''The last barrier to ergonomic nirvana has been lifted'' by CNET News, and ''Xybernaut Corp. of Fairfax, Va., had perhaps the most dramatic traffic-stopper on the floor'' by the San Jose Mercury News in the heart of the Silicon Valley, Ed Newman, President and CEO of Xybernaut, declared the launch a resounding success.

Newman went on to say ''Every objective we set for this North American launch has been met from closing business with organizations that have the potential to deploy tens of thousands of systems over the next year or two, to attracting national attention to the wearable computer as a real contender for industrial and commercial clients, to establishing an immediate backlog for next year. With our aggressive pricing set to establish market share, we even ran into the unexpected taking many orders from consumers using credit cards right there on the show floor. We didn't anticipate demand from the consumer sector for two years. I am optimistic that 1999 will be a very rewarding year for Xybernaut and shareholders.''

Hussein Sallam, VP of Engineering and Manufacturing indicated his satisfaction with the performance of the entire MA IV™ product line. Said Mr. Sallam: ''There has not been a single failure in any component of the system. And this includes dozens of systems dating back to the October European launch with our partner Hewlett Packard. Despite worldwide shipping, use and abuse on show floors by thousands of attendees, and in-house and outside agency testing, every single MA IV™ has performed flawlessly. It is a real tribute to our Tokyo staff and our world-class Japanese manufacturing partners.''

David Schweppe, VP of Sales and Marketing, closed by reminding the press that even though Xybernaut has captured over 2,000 qualified leads from the show, representing tens of thousands of units, many from organizations already planning on deployment, that, in fact, the North American launch has just begun at COMDEX. ''We are currently embarking upon a nationwide 12-city road show with En Pointe, our North American distribution partner, an intensive advertising campaign, and significant direct marketing efforts. Our efforts are focused and if we continue to receive orders from even a small fraction of the ten and twenty deep crowds which were surrounding us at COMDEX, our very capable manufacturing partners will have the happy difficulty of keeping up with unplanned demand next year.''
