RE: AMD's balance sheet Far be it from me to comment directly on AMD's balance sheet, but it is worth noting that Merrill-Lynch recommends against buying AMD's 6% convertible because "of the bond's overvaluation." No serious bond-buyer would take advice from a stock tout, and Moody's rates it at B3 ("low grade"(junk)) and S&P at CCC+ ("poor" (junk)). Please remember that AMD actually paid cash for these ratings. How do you feel about a tout who recommends purchase of a stock when it cannot recommend purchase of the junk bond? Different strokes for different folks.
