My experience is that after market trading is not much of an indicator of how a stock will perform the following morning. A lot can happen overnight - foreign market movement, release of a key report in the morning, analyst opinion changes or even just a change in sentiment on a stock or the market in general.

Too many people obsess about after hours trading particularly after an earnings announcement. Many times the after hours activity has no correlation with the action in the stock the next day.

Best bet is to get a pre-market opening indication from your broker in the morning (sometime after 9:00) then decide what you want to do.
