Doesn't seem fair to someone who established a position at one margin requirement, and then he has the rug pulled out from under him because they change the requirement in mid-stream. Seems like the SEC would have a rule against this.

I could see clearing firms saying "no new positions beyond a certain, lower margin limit", but not changing up on already established positions.

I know I'd be on the phone to the SEC if it happened to me. (Although, I'd be much better off just selling the damned thing)
