I do not think this is all rumor. Today's WSJ had a piece about the Internut mania and it was indicated that DLJ was raising margin requirements on some of the more volatile securities. They are my broker and I emailed for more information or a list of said securities. When I get a response I will post it.

Brokerages can change their own margin requirements as they see fit. Folks that use Datek have been complaining that more and more stocks are becoming non-marginable.
