Gopher,

<They must be worried about hitting some constraint (apart from the 10% total limit)?>

There is nothing stopping them for buying more shares at these prices. Frankly, I was surprised to seem them fail to "defend" and "stabilize" the price as was stated in the original plan/purpose. I agree with Brian (CREAFster on Yahoo thread) when he says that "it is infuriating that they are not seizing every opportunity to buy shares!"

I did not and still don't favor the dividend for many debatable reasons. I am especially upset that they would pay a single penny of dividends until they have utilized all of their available authority to repurchase shares at reasonable levels.

I consider the stock grossly undervalued in the teens, doesn't SIM??? What are they waiting for??? I am totally against buying as many shares possible just to use the 9+ million available. I think the price must be fair. But thus far, they purchased all of their shares at very reasonable levels (dirt cheap by some of our standards). I would have hoped that they would keep buying until the stock went up a few more points and then sit on the bid until either they use up all they are allowed in 1998 or the stock starts moving up too quickly.

I assume Q2 is going well from Intel's and Dell's remarks/results. All indications are that retail is going to be strong this Christmas. The product line is peaking at just the right time. However, Sim's lack of conviction does worry me a bit. I can't imagine why he wasn't picking up more shares today unless he thinks he can get more later for cheaper.

I'm not going to worry just yet but if the stock drops another 6.7% on low volume (relative to average since they were able to buy back shares) I will have to start seriously wondering why Sim isn't defending the price. Is he going to buy at higher levels later?? What about shares bough next year with the renewed 10%??? Does he think he will be able to get shares then at $17.5!!! Damn, I sure hope not.

<My guess is that they have not yet hit 2 million repurchased...>

My guess is that you're right.
