THE BOX Plans interactive concerts via TV The Box, based in Miami Beach, said Wednesday it will collorborate with ACTV from New York to provide interactive, programmable concerts on pay per view. ACTV provides the programming technology, while The Box is experienced in viewer-demanded music videos. "With this technology, they'll control multiple camera angles, control what and how they're watching (the concert)," said Greg Willis, The Box's senior vice president for affiliate sales and marketing. ACTV's technology uses digital set-top boxes and remote control units to let viewers switch between several video, audio and data streams. The first test marketing is scheduled for early 1999 in Texas, most likely Dallas, Willis said. "(Our target audiences) are kids who expect to control their entertainment environment," said Sharon H. Brown, executive vice-president of programming for TCI Music, The Box's parent company. "With (the ACTV) system they can focus on a particular band member, get artist bios, read song lyrics."
