Thanks! I do know the company very well and have as well been an impassioned ICQ user and advocate. I remember vividly the hysterics when Mirabilis was acquired by AOL. (Had to calm a few down myself!) Look for more advertising on ICQ in the future. AOL wants the eyes the way MSFT wants the fingertips.

This acquisition is different though, both in scale and scope, from CompuServe and Mirabilis. The previous two could be considered a toe in the water. This one is a dive. The Wall Street Journal had an insightful article on mergers that are conceptually appealing but blow it on execution.

It just strikes me that one has to watch where a stock could blow to have a balanced picture and not get blown with it. Someone very smart once said to me that being a technology analyst is like being locked in a room with hundreds of small boxes...and hearing ticking. If you can identify the potential sources of ticking, you're ahead. Which is why I posed the questions.

I wish I heard more skepticism, I'd feel easier about the prospects, knowing that everyone is thinking about what could go wrong and on the lookout.

Hey, I'm a believer too. I just have learned a healthy dose of the aforesaid skepticism. It's essential to making--and keeping--the money.
