MJ: welcome to our little party at the auction house. I will have to look around for some old articles on the Bass sale, I forgot what their reasons were.

On the Internet, it seems that Ron Baron, who basically owns upwards of 50%, I think something like 54%, believes BID could/should/will move toward the Internet. With such a move, he thinks, BID could see its stock price double. I think that Friday was a day of such anticipation. Remember some of those companies that were doing net stuff took off? BAMM, AMEN, etc? All they said was that they were going to do biz on the net and they all darted higher. Friday was a huge day for internet stocks, yesterday was a bad day.

I think the idea for Sotheby's on the web would be to allow bids to be entered via the website by individuals unable to attend the live auction. It would be like phoning in a bid, which is currently done. Zapping a bid across the web is the next logical step, right?

I'm holding too, to see what this is all about.

later,geoff
