G'day all - dear Larry, it is a noble idea. Maybe you want to a Charity thread or something like that. Also, there are a lot of Foundations awash of cash [proceeds from the roaring market.] Offhand, I think Friends [the Quaker folks] gives out scholarship [in a more conventional setting.]

I did not read the story; however, if indeed Eun Joo is a talented individual, art schools and famed teachers are probably more than willing waive tuition and room and board. Since I have not followed up with the story, I don't know what age group - and thus potential school - Eun Joo belongs to.

The idea of getting the foundations and/or schools to pay for the education is to free up individual contributors' fund for other pressing needs. It is estimated that 800,000 to 3 mil N Koreans are at risk. Indonesia just got an earthquake. Ok, probably it is better to funnel funds to these countries via organisations like Red Cross or Oxfam, with obvious reasons.

While this is slightly offtopic, I think it is an extremely worthwhile discussion - worthy of continuation. Thanks

best, Bosco
