Kerry, JBE, the best thing a person can do with a big 401K is move the money around into a bunch of different things - some in stocks - some in bonds (though I think both stocks & bonds will go down in price) and some in a commodities-type fund. If your 401K is not with a big fund family then they may not hav a precious metals or hard asset fund. They key is, with people having much more in their 401Ks than in their bank accounts, he who loses the least wins.

JBE, I hope it's a joke - either way I'll have a ball writing anecdotes till the midnite hour...
