Now I see that I've been confused all along by the disclosures in Lehman's reports. I've always looked at the 'disclosure legend' on the bottom, which lists everything including that the analyst owns stock in the co., without realizing that it is only a key to the actual info appearing elsewhere in the report.

So for the past year or two, I've mistakenly thought the analyst had a position in every security he covered.

sorry, had to chuckle. reminds me of a buddy in college. if you'll indulge me, we lived in a big group house. one day towards the end of the year, we were in the basement doing laundry. about to use the dryer, i pulled out the lint screen. he looked at me and said, "what's that?"

happens to the best of us. he's subsequently written one of those wacky miller light "dick" commercials; the one with the lie detector.
