Do the names "Penzoil" and "Texaco" ring a bell?

A couple of posts back, someone said you can't sue somebody in Canada if you are bringing suit under Indonesian law.

If Canadian law is anything like American on this point, you can. The foreign law becomes a matter of proof before the court and the court will apply conflicts of law principles to decide what laws apply. The Indos were probably wise to sue in Cannada if Indonesian law is not as favorable to them as Canadian law on the issues in their lawsuit.

I'm not saying Walsh is wrong to say the suit is without merit, since I haven't seen it, only that the points raised above are probably not goiing to defeat it.
