Night Writer: Thanks. However if you are going to save it instead of treating it like the casual off-hand reference it was meant to be, please make a correction. The Roman word for Chester was not "Dene", but "Deva". "Dene" is the aboriginal nation which inhabits the area roughly known as the Northwest Territories in Canada. They were in my mind when I was writing early this morning. My mistake just occured to me as I was driving home from a tea-room a few minutes ago through Rainhill. (Anyone know what Rainhill was famous for - I'll give you a clue, the team-room is called "The Rocket").
