News from the on-line shopping front:

Compaq pushing ZIP hard on all popular Presario models.

Dell telephone sales person made great sales pitch when asked if ZIP was a worthwhile option. Asked if these devices were actually being bought by quite a few people, she replied that she sells 'maybe' one system a day without ZIP.

I was about to order the Compaq 5635 until the phone rep. advised that they collect sales tax regardless of buyers location. Dell simply tells you that you are personally responsible for complying with any applicable laws in your state. Compaq's policy seems strange in light of recent court rulings re. taxing internet sales. Even stranger, considering that their machines are available without being taxed at major on-line sales sites.
