The ticker was shutdown for about 15 minutes, however, everthing is working again.

While initially the symptoms of our server problems were very much like a hacker attack, this turned out not to be the case - it was an unusual problem with some networking gear. (We do indeed have a secure firewall but even then it is possible for hackers to cause trouble with webservers causing denial of service, even if they can't actually break in - this is what happened to Silicon Investor some months ago - however after consulting this morning with our software vendors there are no known attacks of this nature that we are vulnerable to.)
We deeply regret the trading trouble that this has caused some of you. Rest assured that if a problem like this ever happens again we won't take very long to fix it.

If you sent an email to the webmaster before this time informing us of the trouble, I am afraid we do not have the time to respond to it. There were hundreds!

I'd also like to point out that the common error message "Too Many Users" is misleading as our servers are not overloaded. This message will occur when just about anything goes wrong and the server chokes up.
