Thanks, MC, for trying to enlighten me. Dell tells me they 'are not authorized to collect sales tax in my state'(not CA, although I have friends there who bought Dell with no tax in the past). Actually, I don't really need a new computer all that badly, but.....'tis the season :-)

BTW, the origin of both the Dell and Compaq boxes is Texas, is it not?
