Freeus, with all respect, those are awful rules. That's how you got into trouble -- dumping Dell when it had a couple of those nightmare days that all companies go through. If you keep your eyes firmly on the company and its prospects the chances of getting hurt aren't so bad so long as the stock price is consonant with earnings expectations. When you see stocks that have no earnings, few if any assets, no barriers to entry and huge valuations relative to possible earnings its time to run for the hills.

I find these second tier internet stocks so intriguing: if there are decent earnings to be made in some of these companies I sure don't see them!

To each his own, but I prefer a company that has earnings as its underpinning rather than the greater fool theory, and if the earnings are there then why be tricked into selling because just the price of the stock drops?
