I'm taking a vacation from this thread. This madness of fighting the trend for some of us here is as close to capital punishment as one can get (memories of the SD thread). We've missed so many moves the last 2 months our collective value appears in need of serious repair. Thean, you seem to be able to pull off some great moves. My hat is off to ya.

LT, you made a great call back in April, but all for not if one were to have followed your lead all the way back (up) to now. Maybe you are ahead, I don't know. But it appears as if all rules of investment have been put on hold and there is no logic to this madness...without some rules or patterns, success is pure luck.

My luck has sucked lately (even worse than gold) and I know when to take a break. Time to dust off the old value investing theme and buy good companies cheap and hold 'em 'til the wind changes.

Gold continues to drop as all commodities are doing with no end in sight. This is not the place to make money. Good luck to those of you still holding. Looks like oil in a different barrel to me now. Gold, as with shorting and options, are major timing vehicles that will NOT forgive mistakes. At least good companies can fix what is wrong and grow later...but these ultimate timing tools take more attention than I am willing to give now. Gotta go out and finish my book, paint the last bedroom and take my kids to the museum tomorrow. I'm pulling a Ron and taking some time out while I still have capital to play with at the old brokerage house.

I'll be back after the dust settles. Have a wonderful Christmas season everyone.
