Bema Gold Corporation announces the appointment of Directors
VANCOUVER, Dec. 1 - Bema Gold Corporation ("the Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Thomas I.A. Allen, Q.C. and Mr. Cole McFarland to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Allen is a senior partner with the law firm Ogilvy Renault representing that firm from both its Toronto and London offices. He practices securities law, arbitration and mediation. He is a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
Mr. McFarland has enjoyed a distinguished career in the mining industry working for over 35 years for the Placer Dome Group of Companies in various engineering, management and executive responsibilities. Most recently he held the position of President Placer Dome U.S. from 1987 until his retirement in 1995. Mr. McFarland received his Mining Engineering Degree at Washington State University in 1954 and followed up with post-graduate studies in Geology and Exploration at McGill University.
The Directors of Bema are pleased to welcome Mr. Allen and Mr. McFarland to the Board, and believe their vast experience will greatly benefit the Company as we pursue our growth as a gold producer. Mr. Allen and Mr. McFarland have also been appointed to the Company's audit and Compensation Committees.
