The Waltons lived down Route 29 (Well, the Hamners). I lived east of Charlottesville on Route 29 in Keswick for two years while I attended grad school in a very sporadic and lackadaisical manner. There is a great deal of old money around Charlottesville, but they hide it with true Southern gentility, which means one must appear close to destitute but actually have a home filled with priceless antiques and silver. And a horse farm. And the middle name of Lee.
I grew up in Lexington and never heard of the Green Mountains! I, too, thought they were all Blue Ridge. I am mortified.
Are you close to DC then?
