Well , for a software specialist ( I assume you are one) , who has complete knowledge
about which application softwares will work better on a certain OS and know which ones to choose, then seperate the OS and application softwares probably is better. But do not forget that most of the consumers probably do not even know

, how can you expect them to know what softwares are work best with a certain OS ?

Your assumption is most of the consumers are software specialists and have all the
necessary knowledge to choose the best application softwares. That is a wishful assumption. For me , I would prefer the softwares to be integrated together so that
I do not have to enjoy the headaches of choose the best application softwares, because that is not what I am good at. Just like buying a car, I would like to buy a car
which have all the necessary options installed so that I just need to drive the car home directly. I do not have to worry where to buy my air conditions, my car sterios,
and my electronic power systems ...etc. Microsoft's products are designed to serve the
majority of the consumers, and if you do not like it, there are lot of other options for you to choose in the market.
