Novell has indeed shipped a great product, but the statement above is not quite correct. The customer needs to maintain an NDS tree on a NetWare server somewhere in the organization, although the NetWare server is no longer needed in the local NT environment (e.g, a branch retail outlet or sales office). Novell plans to ship an NT-only version of NDS sometime in 1999.
