My original question concerned how SUNW will make money from Java

The reason for my asking is that SUNW is one of Mr. Gilder's "telecosm" companies, presumably because of Java. If it were not for SUNW's inclusion, I certainly wouldn't be raising this point in this forum. Perhaps Mr. Gilder could comment on how he sees this. Is SUNW on the list because he sees that Java itself will bring in a large (future) revenue and profit stream, or is it simply because of hardware drag for fat servers to run Java applications? If the former, then when and how will this come about? If the latter, then how will these servers not become commoditized?

Genuinely curious as to Mr. Gilder's thinking on this subject.
