I think all of us are speculating on the precise technical nature
of the problem ATHM is having w/ performance in Fremont, CA, as
being discussed here. None of us have access to the exact
config of the cable system there, etc.

I suspect that given enough money and time, TCI or ATHM or T will
fix this problem. I also suspect that the vast majority of
potential ATHM subscribers will see a demo/sample of ATHM, be
blown away by speed, and sign up. Nearly all of these new
subscribers will have no knowledge of this Fremont slowdown/problem.

Remember AOL's "busy signal" reputation? Look at the stock price
chart of AOL from that time (somewhere in the last 5 years) and
now - didn't make much difference!

Us 'techie/investor' types may care, but this won't hurt ATHM
in the long run, because most new subscribers DON'T care - ATHM is
visually and experientially much faster then the 56k crap they
use today, and that's good enough.
