Hibernating might be a better description.

SPCT is in a funk and will be there for at least a few more quarters. This is a text book example of how quickly a capital equipment company's revenues can dry up when system build-out and expansion are stagnant.

How many base station amplifiers are sold by SPCT, or PWAV and MPDI for that matter, to replace existing base station equipment? Probably a small percentage of their business. These guys rely on system expansion and build-out by service providers to generate the growth in their market space. Therefore, until Asia and the rest of the world get back on track and add capacity to or initiate development of new wireless systems, SPCT will limp along.

The real action is in handsets right now. Even with slowing economic growth, people will upgrade to newer handsets with more features and longer battery life. Product cycles for wireless phones have shortened to 18-24 months.

For what its worth.
