As for interactive program guides, Gemstar is the clear winner. End of discussion there. Part 2 - All these new nifty services that you will be able to get with the new fancy cable boxes are fun, but...how much is your cable bill already? A lot of people think they are already paying too much for crappy channels, like the Redneck Shopping Channel, where a bunch of white trash junkyard dogs sell baseball cards, football cards, etc for 12 hrs a day, and then from midnight to 6am sell knives & swords that could decapitate a T-Rex. So, since we are already paying too much for what cable gives us, has anyone asked what the demand will be for any of this newfangled crap, be it from SRCM, or any of their often mentioned competitors? Cable companies want to offer more so they can add to your monthly bill, but a lot of people may just do the Nancy Reagan thing and just say no. |
