ImaginOn Launches 'sellONstream' Video E-Commerce Technology PR Newswire - December 02, 1998 08:10
GREER, S.C., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- California Pro Sports, Inc., (Nasdaq: CALP) said today that ImaginOn, Inc. announced the availability of its "sellONstream"(TM) video e-commerce solution that enables Internet-based marketing using TV-quality movies. "Imagine watching really high quality video on your PC and being able to buy anything you see just by clicking your mouse once," said David Schwartz, ImaginOn's Chief Executive Officer, "the mouse click takes you right to the Web page where you complete the transaction." ImaginOn recently received patent approval for the proprietary technology forming the basis for sellONstream as well as the Company's other software products: WorldCities 2000(TM) and WebZinger(TM).
ImaginOn also announced today that it has signed an agreement with a Los Angeles women's apparel manufacturer who will become the first business user of sellONstream. They will use the new format to deliver a movie of Hollywood models showing off their Spring outfits. Customers can then order any item instantly via the built-in browser, increasing e-commerce sales.
Without sellONstream, Internet video advertising is limited to tiny, grainy, jerky and slow images, due to the limited bandwidth of most connections to the Web, and the heavy traffic at popular sites. Buying products on the Web has been a daunting task for many users, requiring top-notch Web browser driving skills. ImaginOn solved those problems by putting the video on CD ROM along with its own dedicated Web browser.
When placed in a personal computer's disc drive, a sellONstream CD shows up on the user's screen as an icon. No installation or hard disk drive space is required. Clicking the sellONstream icon opens a window on the screen that plays the video and provides VCR-like controls, including a "Go Online" button. sellONstream's integrated browser means the consumer never has to cope with a complex browser, or navigate at all, since the product purchase pages pop into view right in the same window, on top of the video. When the purchase is complete, pressing the play button closes the browser and continues video.
"Businesses like our integrated video and browser solution because it's all in a simple, single window," said Len Kain, ImaginOn's Vice President of Engineering," and our window can be branded by the vendor, so the consumer's focus is on the message, not the medium."
sellONstream, a Java application that runs on PC's, Macs and UNIX workstations, is available for licensing from ImaginOn. Visit www.imaginon.com.
