I agree with you that AMD had (and I mean HAD) a poor record of bringing new product and adapting new processes. But, since 6/98 AMD has been able to deliver and this is important. You might argue that they are all versions of .25um process and there is no correlation to the more aggressive .18um. Then, partnership is a way out for the AMD.
