Right. Well, see, Lambchop is no good for several reasons. Main one is that it's a goofy puppet character. Food, however, is a good General Area. I think good General Areas are: Foods, Commands and Instructions, Verb Phrases, Obscure Arthur Conan Doyle Characters, Short Descriptions, Insects and Insect Parts, Things from the Sea, and Noxious Liquids.
Beyond that, I think it's a good idea to be creative. In fact, I think that Creative is the Key to the whole thing. For example, take Foods.
We could have Tomato, or Lambchop, or Milk. Not really creative. But with some style, you could have things like Tupperware Item, Scone, Cold Sausage Pizza, Green Soda, Boiled Leaves, Monododium Diphosphoretic Sulphadoid, and so on.
Commands and Instructions: Handle With Care, Customers are Not Allowed in Work Area, You Must Respond Before January 1st, and so on. (Lather. Rinse. Repeat is outstanding, IMHO.)
Verb Phrases: Could Have Been Going, Might Be Bleeding, etc.
Doyle Characters: My favorites are Hugh Boone, Mycroft Holmes, and Mr. Hosmer Angel. Especially Hugh Boone. It sounds great, and he was a great character.
You get the idea, I'm sure. For you personally, I would move in the area of Lines from Japanese Poetry, but I don't want to be too specific. |
