Mary, You aren't off base at all. If any vendor can offer a 64 bit solution on the desktop with a significantly better price/performance tradeoff than x86, there will be some motivation to switch platforms. So far it hasn't happened, and I'm not convinced that IA64 will be at that point anytime in the next few years either. Scumbria
