Interesting theory, however, I don't think I buy it. I believe it had far more to do with a strong general market and the Chrysler announcement of strong November sales.

It seems like shares held this dividend period would be approximately the same as the last few dividends. I did a little research.... for the 1/28/98 distribution Ford was up 13/16, for the 4/29/98 distribution Ford was up 3/16, for 7/29/98 Ford was up 3-1/8 (!) and 3-1/16 for this last dividend. So... two times less than a dollar and two times over a $3 rise... Hmmmm....
