Who do you think this great multitude of people were? It was not the chief priests, they are the ones that sent them, it wasn't any of the elders, they didn't want to be seen with the mob. It was not the Roman guard, scripture would have said so. It was the Jewish people and it wasn't just a few it was a whole multitude. How many do you think constitutes a multitude? A lot! Of all involved I only read of Peter rising up to defend him.
