LOS ANGELES, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) will include K-tel International Inc.'s (Nasdaq:KTEL - news) online music and home video service on the Microsoft Network Shopping Channel, K-tel said Tuesday.
Shares of K-tel were up more than 70 percent after the news, trading at 20, up 8-7/16 on the Nasdaq exchange at mid-morning.
The Microsoft Network will feature direct links to the ''K-tel Express'' music and video service within the Music and Home Videos department page of its online shopping channel.
K-tel, known for years as the company that packaged music hits and pitched them on television, has seen its stock rock and roll on news of its cyberspace moves.
The stock rose ten fold to a 52-week high of $39.44 after the launch of ''K-tel Express'' (www.ktel.com) in early May.
The Microsoft agreement allows MSN (www.msn.com) to include links to ''K-tel Express'' within other sites Microsoft owns, controls or operates, including Microsoft Plaza, MSNBC, Computing Central, Sidewalk and microsoft.com.
''K-tel Express,'' which has 250,000 music and 35,000 home video titles, competes with online music retailers such as CDNow (Nasdaq:CDNW - news), N2K Inc. (Nasdaq:NTKI - news) and Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN - news).
